We’ve fired up the arcade and summoned something from beyond the grave this month. Meet Putrid Pixels, our latest release that’s part 8-bit-nightmare, part Halloween freak show, and all Knobby chaos. It’s a mash-up of ghouls, skulls, and retro gaming vibes, delivered with an extra treat in your parcel to keep the spooky season alive.
Inspiration
Designed by the wickedly talented Sam Pierson, who's been bumming out parents since 1990. Putrid Pixels is a gnarly love letter to pixel art, monster movies, and old-school arcade graphics. Think VHS horror tapes, cult 80s trading cards, and the eerie glow of a haunted video game screen. Instead of leaning on pumpkins and cobwebs, we went all-in on bright neon creatures, zombies, mummies, and monstrosities, stitched together in a repeating wall of pixelated terror.
Our inspiration came from the loud colours and glitchy grit of vintage video games, but reimagined through Knobby’s cheeky lens. The result? A design that’s retro, badass, and just the right amount of spooky.
Design
Every inch of Putrid Pixels is crawling with grotesque faces, mutants, skulls, and ghouls in electric slime greens, ultraviolet purples, and acid brights. The repeat print means there’s always something new lurking in the shadows of your undies, no matter how many times you wear them.
To dial up the freak factor without going too gory, we swapped out blood for green slime, still gnarly, but way more fun. It’s a print that feels like a monster mash inside an arcade cabinet, dripping with nostalgia and ready to level up your underwear drawer.
Production
